Vintage and Collector Monopoly Editions

Old-looking Monopoly sets you can still buy new: bookshelf reproductions, anniversary printings and collector tins, 57 of them here.

50 editions in this list.

Top picks

Fifty-seven editions on this page trade on age. Some are reproductions of how the game used to look, some mark an anniversary, and some were sold as collector pieces the day they shipped.

Worth saying up front: nothing here is an original 1940s or 1950s box. Those only move between collectors. Every set on this list is a modern printing that either copies the old presentation or commemorates something.

How to choose

The bookshelf line is where most people land. WS Game Company Monopoly Vintage Bookshelf Edition started that trend, with a fabric-wrapped book-style box, retro graphics and wooden houses. Their Heritage Edition sits in the same premium range, and the Nostalgia Edition swaps the book box for a collectible tin. All three are about presentation rather than play.

If you want the oldest look on a current board, Monopoly: Retro Edition is Hasbro's own retro-styled printing of the original game, and the Parker Brothers 1935 Commemorative Edition goes further and copies the 1935 board and box. Neither changes the rules. You're buying the artwork.

Anniversary sets are their own thing. The 70th and 80th anniversary printings are standard games dressed for the milestone, so they read better on a shelf than at a table. The WS Game Company Hasbro 100th Anniversary Edition earns its place with eight exclusive die-cast tokens pulled from Hasbro brands, and the 2025 Marines 250th Anniversary Edition actually rewrites the board, replacing houses and hotels with tents and barracks and putting combat boots and a bulldog in the token tray.

Then there's the odd corner: the Millennium Edition 2000 released for the turn of the century, Monopoly World War II built around a home front slogan, and Monopoly The Heirloom Edition sold as a set for two to eight players that you hand down instead of replacing.

Licensed nostalgia rounds it out. Elvis, The Beatles, Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson and I Love Lucy all have collector's editions in this list, most of them printed years ago and bought now for the box as much as the game.

What's in this list

Everything grouped here shares the Retro / Collector tag, which cuts across categories rather than sitting inside one. That's why a themed edition, a places edition and a merch listing can appear side by side. Sets with a franchise attached also show on their own franchise pages, so The Godfather 50th Anniversary and the Doctor Who 50th are counted twice across the site and once here. A few entries are multi-game bundles from the WS bookshelf collection rather than a single Monopoly box, so read the title before you assume you're getting one game.

Dated entries on this page run from a 2006 Mickey Mouse 75th Anniversary set to the 2025 Marines edition, which means the vintage look is still an active product line and not a closed one.

Common questions

Can you still buy a 1935 Monopoly set?

Not new. Original 1935 boxes only turn up through collectors and the secondhand market. What you can buy is the Parker Brothers 1935 Commemorative Edition in our catalog, a reissue styled after that game with the classic rules inside.

What about 1940s and 1950s Monopoly games?

Sets from those decades aren't in production, so anything sold new with that look is a reproduction rather than an original. Monopoly: Retro Edition and the WS Game Company bookshelf line both go after the older board art and packaging. If you want a genuine period box, you're shopping the resale market, not a retailer.

What makes a bookshelf edition different from a normal set?

The box. WS Game Company packs the game in a fabric-wrapped case built to look like a hardback, with retro graphics and wooden houses, so it sits on a shelf between games instead of going back in a closet. The rules are the classic ones.

Which anniversary editions of Monopoly exist?

Our list holds the 70th and 80th anniversary printings of the game itself, plus the WS Game Company Hasbro 100th Anniversary Edition and the 2025 Marines 250th Anniversary Edition. Licensed anniversary sets sit here too, including The Godfather 50th, Doctor Who 50th, The Wizard of Oz 75th and Mickey Mouse 75th.
